Using apps

Finding, opening and managing apps in LensHub.

Finding an app

  • Home lists your apps under Your apps, as tiles or a list. Typing in the Ask bar also suggests apps by name — pick one to open it.
  • The sidebar keeps your Recent apps: the last few apps you opened in this workspace, in this browser. It is cleared when you log out.
  • Manage → Apps lists every app you can see, with its status, owner and last update.

Opening an app

An open app fills the window. A thin bar across the top names the app and who built it — that bar is how you know you are in an app, not in LensHub itself. From it you can:

  • go back to LensHub,
  • reload the app,
  • switch to full screen, which hides the bar behind a small LensHub tab on the right edge (click the tab to bring the bar back),
  • tell the owner Something looks wrong.

The app runs in a sandboxed frame. It cannot read your LensHub session or reach other apps.

Reporting a problem

Something looks wrong sends a short note to the app's owner. Open reports appear on Manage → Apps under Reported problems — owners see reports on their own apps, administrators see all of them — and in lenshub_app_status for an agent working as the owner, so it can fix the problem and redeploy. Click Resolve once a report is dealt with.

Starting and stopping

On Manage → Apps, the owner of an app and administrators can stop a running app and start a stopped one. Stopping waits for the app's grace period, so the row shows Stopping… until it has.

Managing one app

Manage on an app's row (or in its bar) opens its page:

TabWhat it holds
OverviewThe current release and the release history. The owner or an administrator can Roll back to an earlier release.
NetworkHow people reach the app (always through the LensHub login), its connections with their approval status, and the connections it tried but was refused.
SecretsThe app's environment secrets, by name. Secrets are write-only: a value is never shown again once set.
MonitoringCPU, memory, processes and restarts, requests and errors in the last 24 hours, and recent activity.
LogsRecent output of the app.
SettingsName, description, who can open it, resource tier, and removal.

Who can open it

Under Settings, an app is visible to Everyone in the org or Only me (its owner). Every request is checked against the person's session and this setting before it reaches the app.

Connections

On the Network tab the owner can Request a connection — or pick one of the refused destinations under Connections the app tried to request exactly that one. Administrators approve or deny requests here, or for every app at once on Manage → Apps under Awaiting your decision, and can Revoke an approved connection. See Connections.

Removal

Under Settings → Remove:

  • Delete app (owner or administrator) stops the container, removes its network and data volume, and revokes its links. Releases and events stay in the audit history.
  • Wipe stored state (administrators) clears the key-value data the app keeps in LensHub (per-user and shared), and leaves the app and its release in place.

For administrators

Manage → Apps also shows the apps node: whether the runtime is reachable, how it isolates apps, and how many are running. The resource tier of an app can only be changed by an administrator. See Operating for limits and monitoring.
